In the past, SASSA grants would be paid out later in the month. However, after complaints from beneficiaries, the agency decided to commence with payments on the second day of the month or the closest working day.

The pension (older person grant) is paid first, followed by the disability and children’s grants. Thereafter, all other grants should be paid out, including the R350 SRD grant, which no longer has a fixed date.

  • Older persons – Monday, 3 July
  • Disability grant – Tuesday, 4 July
  • Children’s grant – Wednesday, 5 July
  • All other SASSA grants are paid out from Wednesday, 5 July.
  • Note: there is no fixed payment date for the special COVID-19 SRD

The funds can be collected after the day it becomes available.

HOW TO WITHDRAW THE MONEY

“Normal grants”, excluding the R350 grant, can still be collected from the post office. However, all grants can also be withdrawn from any ATM or selected retail partners like Shoprite, Checkers, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Shoprite U-Save.

The SASSA gold card can be used to make purchases just like a regular debit card, or beneficiaries may opt to have the money deposited directly into their personal bank accounts. SASSA has maintained that direct bank deposits are the most convenient payment method.
