Risk Manager

Introduction

SPAR Lowveld, a division of The SPAR Group Ltd., is recruiting for a Retail Risk Manager, at its Distribution Centre, located in Nelspruit.

Duties & Responsibilities

To provide guidance, support and advice to retailers regarding risk, safety and compliance.
 
Key Performance Areas:
 

  • Developing and ensuring compliance with risk and loss control policies and legislative requirements.
  • Provide specialist input to the store development team to facilitate improvements to creating a safe shopping environment that is in line with policies, practices, standards, and legislation.
  • Performing store audits through structured store visits and the circulation of written reports to regional and national offices where appropriate.
  • Give detailed feedback to ensure informed decision-making.
  • Recommendations to improve the safety and security of information, assets and people.
  • Advise and implement security equipment upgrades.
  • Estimating project costs for safety equipment and preparing business plans for stores.
  • Review and implement training to ensure the effectiveness of learning programs/interventions. 
  • Disciplinary and Criminal Hearings.
  • Provide recommendations and implement best operating practices.
  • Standby support for Retail and Response to armed Robberies and Burglaries.
  • Complete retail compliance audits in the retail stores.
  • Assist retailers in becoming compliant with the various retail compliance requirements.
  • Ensure that stores comply with its outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes, emerging risks, and industry trends to identify potential compliance issues.
  • Ad hoc tasks & duties.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Matric.
  • Risk Management or Security Management related tertiary qualification will be advantageous. 
  • 5 Years of Retail Risk Management experience at Store Management / DC level with high level of Retail Business knowledge.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and business compliance requirements.
  • Relevant experience in compliance, risk management, or a related field.
  • Microsoft Office Skills.
  • Experience in criminal investigations, risk audits and assessments.
  • Goal-directed and objective-driven individual.
  • Innovative and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation and conflict management skills. 
  • Ability to listen, consult, motivate, encourage, and influence others.
